101 Things in 1001 Days

Last week I mentioned that I'd be following the lead of Design Darling's Mackenzie Horan and making a list of 101 things I'd like to do in the next 1001 days.


So, after spending the last week making my list (I can't lie, it was harder than I expected) I am ready to share.  I'm pretty pleased with my list and would recommend this exercise to anyone.  I'm feeling very inspired and am looking forward to the next 1001 days and to celebrating the completion of my list on March 3, 2016.

And...drumroll...here is my list...
  1. Make my list of 101 things  June 6, 2013
  2. Start my own design firm
  3. Get business cards for said design firm
  4. Develop a website for this design firm
  5. Have a design project published
  6. Get my portfolio set up on my iPad
  7. Take a photo (not of people) worth printing large format and framing
  8. Launch an interview series on Sea Island Drive
  9. Have our first giveaway on Sea Island Drive
  10. Help plan my family's summer vacation
  11. Find a really good hairstylist in Charleston..balayage anyone?
  12. Harvest the first lime from my little tree
  13. Make a big batch of marmalade and give most of it away
  14. Sell my car
  15. Buy an SUV
  16. Improve my interior photography skills
  17. Buy (or DIY) a stylish dining room light fixture
  18. Start playing tennis again
  19. Plan a special celebration for our 1st wedding anniversary
  20. Host more dinner parties
  21. Branch out of our bubble and try 6 new restaurants in Charleston
  22. Buy an electric sander
  23. Refinish our dining table
  24. Find another piece of furniture worth refurbishing
  25. Refurbish it
  26. Go on a road trip
  27. Finally change my last name on my passport
  28. Dedicate time to taking photos at least once a week for 3 months
  29. Buy a new lens for my camera
  30. Drink 64 ounces of water a day for a month
  31. Watch the moon rise from Folly Beach
  32. Don't let my gas tank get below half-full for the entirety of hurricane season
  33. Help my parents find the perfect piece of art for their living room
  34. Make a terrarium
  35. Plan a family vacation with Tim's family
  36. Teach Otto 3 new tricks
  37. Complete P90X again
  38. Lose 5 pounds
  39. Lose 5 more
  40. Organize my gmail inbox
  41. Send 50 handwritten cards or letters
  42. Do something (by choice) that makes me uncomfortable
  43. Make new friends in Charleston
  44. Make 5 new blogger friends
  45. Make 5 new business owner friends & advisors
  46. Move out of our apartment to someplace with a yard
  47. Get a grill 
  48. Watch 5 'Best Picture' winning movies that I've never seen
  49. Do a crossword puzzle once a week for 2 months
  50. Remember to take my vitamins everyday for a month straight
  51. Make a cookbook of our favorite recipes
  52. Read 10 new books
  53. Find the perfect little dish for the coral I brought back from our honeymoon
  54. Find a great bench for the foot of our bed
  55. Get new nightstands
  56. Buy a tea kettle
  57. Buy a copy of Charleston Receipts
  58. Make macarons
  59. Learn to make biscuits from scratch
  60. Learn to make 10 new entree salads
  61. Make homemade orange sherbet
  62. Learn to make my favorite cocktail from McCrady's (The Antagonist)
  63. Make homemade root beer
  64. Buy a bottle of madeira
  65. Make cheesecake for Tim more often
  66. Learn to make really good sangria
  67. Learn to make strawberry jam

  85. Start Christmas shopping in October (or earlier)
  86. Edit the list of magazines I subscribe to
  87. Buy a new winter coat
  88. Buy 5 beautiful coffee table books
  89. Buy vintage maps of Boston and Charleston
  90. Find the perfect lip gloss...long-lasting, not sticky, hint of color
  91. Stay injury free for 1001 days
  92. Enroll Otto in another training class
  93. Run a 10k
  94. Learn how to pick a good cantaloupe
  95. Take an art history class
  96. Buy a great sun hat
  97. Upgrade our bookshelves
  98. Plan a weekend away with Tim in a new city
  99. Re-read my history of furniture and architecture books from school
  100. Get a pink Glassybaby (or two)
  101. Inspire someone else to write their own list of 101 things...
1001 days starts today!  Who else wants to make a list?  Please, please let me know if you do!  

I'll keep you updated on my progress and may reach out for help and recommendations for some of these things (#11, #78, #90...anyone have any suggestions?)
