Decisions, Decisions... Paula's Best Design Decision

Continuing our new Decisions, Decisions... series, today's post is about the best decorating decision I've made in my current home.  Starting next week, this series will introduce you to some new people since you get to hear from us on a daily basis.  But, today, you're stuck with me.  So, a peek into my home...

Tim and I moved to Charleston two years ago from a 600 sq. ft. apartment in Boston.  We knew right away that we wanted to live downtown, and being new to the area, we weren't looking to buy yet.  Since we were at least doubling our space, we knew we'd need some furniture, but as renters we didn't want to spend a lot on big items that might not work in a future home.

...to take my time!  I am admittedly guilty of making quick decisions, getting sucked into the immediate gratification of buying something new and beautiful.  As an interior designer I spend a lot of time sourcing fabulous things for my clients (and frequently thinking, "This would look great in my home!") So, it's taken considerable effort to wait until I really found the right pieces at the right prices...to not get sucked into buying something just because it's on sale, or because I know there are only a couple left.

A home furnished and accessorized with things I love and truly have no regrets about purchasing.  They might not be the perfect pieces for the rest of our lives, but they're perfect for now!  So, what was your best decorating decision?

Now, if I can apply this strategy to clothes shopping, there will be fewer things headed to consignment!  The sales get me every time...

I love that we have the same Crate and Barrel bowl. Mine is filled with disco balls. :)

I love that bowl! It has held a variety of different things and been in a variety of different places, but it always looks good!
