A good interior design book should be beautiful (even when it is sitting closed on your coffee table), inspirational (even if the photos are of totally over the top, unattainably gorgeous rooms), and timeless (even as trends come and go, the good ones always come back in some form).

You don't have to be an interior designer to appreciate stunning photos of impeccably designed rooms. Let's be honest, everyone's coffee table could benefit from a hardback book full of beautiful photos of the spaces we'd all love to live in...or at least vacation in...or maybe just have dinner in.

My list of wanted books is always in flux, and lately it has been growing quickly. After losing most of my design library several years ago when my apartment flooded, I haven't done a great job of rebuilding it. Maybe now is the time to start focusing on that.
